Catholic Charities is committed to helping the poor and vulnerable throughout the Diocese of Gary. Last year, more than 10,000 individuals and families from Lake, Porter, LaPorte and Starke counties in
Northwest Indiana benefited from various services offered by Catholic Charities, including emergency assistance, counseling (individual, family and school-based), and Gateway supportive housing. This would not
be possible without the tremendous support and dedication from donors like you.
In addition to making a one-time donation, you can also set up a recurring monthly deduction from your personal PayPal account. To arrange for this type of deduction, please click the donate button next to the
amount you would like to contribute each month to the Catholic Charities.
Thank you in advance for your support and dedication to helping Catholic Charities fulfill its mission of providing help and creating hope to those in need – we truly appreciate it!
Charity and justice demand that believers strive to uphold the dignity and worth of every human being, especially the poor, the homeless, the unemployed, people with special needs, immigrants and the
incarcerated. This is why our Church feeds, houses, educates and heals more people than any other single institution on the planet. Domestically, Catholic Charities offers a great quantity and quality of service to
struggling families and individuals in need throughout the Diocese of Gary community.
The programs administered by Catholic Charities are designed to promote self-sufficiency; to offer a hand up to a better future rather than a hand out leading to dependence on others. Counseling, emergency
assistance, nutrition education, supportive housing and utility assistance are just some of the services offered to those most in need; those on the margins of society. While alleviating immediate suffering, Catholic
Charities helps people recognize their own dignity, strengths, talents and the opportunities to use those gifts to actively participate in their own lives, in the lives of their families and in their communities.
Although our people heroically serve the needy in so many generous ways, we must not become complacent to the poverty that is still very prevalent throughout our Diocese. Now more than ever, we must
continue to make a conscious effort to do our part to support the dignity, justice and mercy that every person should receive as a child of God.
Poverty has been defined as a “lack of resources.” We do not all have time to work in a food pantry or volunteer at a homeless shelter; but we all can share our resources with those less fortunate. As Pope
Francis reminds us, “Take care of God’s creation. But above all, take care of people in need.”
Catholic Charities can only help the poor and vulnerable of our beloved Diocese of Gary when you show that you care by sharing your resources with love and generosity. As we continue to fulfill our mission of
providing and advocating for the physical, emotional, and social needs of the poor and vulnerable, we’ve noticed a significant increase in the number of people coming to Catholic Charities for assistance.
Therefore, funding for the programs we provide has become even more critical. Please consider making a difference in the life of fellow community members who are in great need by contributing to Catholic
