Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Gary, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana, and the Diocese of Gary have teamed up to develop Tabor House, a home for a low-income family ready for taking a giant step toward self-sufficiency.
Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is leading the construction process, which has an estimate completion date of Spring 2018. Tabor House is managed by Catholic Charities and its staff who will provide supportive and encouraging services to family members living in this home.
Housing is often the greatest barrier to moving out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. The opportunity Tabor presents is temporarily alleviating the burden of poverty for a family, so they can move towards self-sufficiency through stable employment, healthier family dynamics, and more attention to education.
