Non-Cash Gifts

Most charitable gifts to Catholic Charities are given in the form of cash because this is so familiar. However, this may not be the most cost-effective way for you to give. You can increase your potential impact and experience significant tax savings by giving non-cash assets.


Donate Your Car

Donate your car, truck, motorcycle, RV, or boat in support of Catholic Charities Diocese of Gary by clicking the link below and completing the on-line form or calling CARS. The friendly folks at CARS will be in touch with you to pick up your car, truck, etc.

Pick-up is always free to you and most vehicles can be picked up within 24-72 hours. At the time of pick-up you will receive an initial car donation receipt. After your car has been turned into cash (by having been sold), the CARS team will send you a final receipt and proper tax forms.

Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds Donations

Donations of appreciated securities or mutual funds helps Catholic Charities serve the most vulnerable in Northwest Indiana while offering tax benefits to you.

Benefits:

  • You are eligible for a charitable income tax deduction on the fair market value of the securities on the date of transfer.
  • You pay no capital gains tax on securities you donate that you’ve held for more than one year.
  • Donating securities can help you rebalance your portfolio.

Please notify our administrative office located in Gary of the transfer by emailing emiller@catholic-charities.org. Your information will also allow us to identify and promptly acknowledge your gift.
